Fashion accessories

Scarves and stoles

L'Indochineur's range of accessories offers stoles, scarves and hand bags in many different styles.
L'Indochineur brings these accessories back from the North of Vietnam, the ancient Tonkin, Cambodia and Laos. In Laos, weaving is a tradition, stoles and tapistries are woven on entirely manual looms. L'Indochineur's stoles are mostly made of silk, particularly wild silk, but Asian weavers also use cotton and flax.

Bags and envelope bags

Among L'Indochineur's accessories, one can also find bags, high quality bags that are made with taffeta, the best silk in Vietnam. Some bags are hand embroidered and some models are embellished with superb horn handles or straps.
L'Indochineur also provides a more simple range for everyday use.

Jewellery

L'Indochineur's jewellery is made with natural material such as mother of pearl, silver, horn, stone or even wood. You will find classic jewellery such as necklaces, bracelets or rings but also hair pins, bun ties, broches and earrings.

Pottery

L'Indochineur disposes of numerous tea services manufactured by ceramic crafstmen, a millenary craft in Vietnam.
Some are made using typical Vietnamese finishing techniques, others with Japanese techniques such as cracked glass.
Other craftsmen associate with ceramists to create finishings such as copper or horn handles existing on certain models. L'Indochineur's pottery is made of stoneware.

Lacquers

L'Indochineur's lacquers take up an old tradition of Vietnamese handicraft.
In Vietnamese, lacquer is said son mai: son being painter and mai pumicing. The crafstmen apply several coats of lacquer, each coat being pumiced with stone and water.
To create the metallic and colored parts of the lacquered objects, the craftsmen apply fine square aluminium leaves that are then covered with colored varnish.
These objects are created with wooden, bamboo or MDF bases.
The making of lacquered objects demands a lot of time because of the drying period (at least two months and sometimes more during the wet season).

Bamboo

Bamboo, which is the base of many of our products, is a plant very important in Vietnam. It marks Vietnamese symbolism.

Rolled bamboo

Fine strips of bamboo are wound around themselves and stuck together with a natural mastic. The objects are then dried and polished. After, they are covered with a special lacquer for food contact.
These “natural style” products show an impression of fine streaks given by the craft.

"Raw" bamboo

Bamboo cane is used raw to make boxes or cases letting the knot of the wood appear.

Crushed eggshell

Vietnamese craftsmen also use crushed eggshell to decorate their objects.

Horn

Vietnamese craftsmen are experts in working horn; buffalo horn as well as cow horn.
Buffalo horn can be black, nearly opaque or a translucide blond. Blond horn comes from albino animals.
The pieces of horn are sawn and then polished a first time on a buff wheel. They can also be heated to create a curve in certain objects. Next, each piece is polished to give it a smooth surface but it can also be waxed for a shiny aspect or even left natural to keep its mat aspect.
